Community Health Promotions
General Overview
Shawnee County Health Agency (SCHA) understands the importance of leading the way to a healthier Shawnee County. By being actively involved in the community and projects that are taking place, SCHA strives to be a front runner in improving the overall health of Shawnee County.

The Community Health Promotions Department is excited to be a part of your community events and programs. In addition to taking part in health fairs and community events, we also provide free presentations and trainings on a variety of topics including:
  • Sex Education
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections               
  • Nutrition
  • Tobacco Education
  • Physical Activity
  • Stress Management
  • Family Planning
  • Communicable Diseases
  • Personal Hygiene

Additional presentations can be developed based on your organization's need.

Freedom From Smoking
SCHA has trained facilitators on staff to offer the Freedom From Smoking program, through the American Lung Association. This is a seven week, eight class series that helps individuals assess their tobacco habits, and develop a plan to quit. This group class, is offered for $40 at various times throughout the year. Call 251-2030 to learn more about this program.

SCHA is a proud partner with the KanQuit program, which is a free individualized tobacco program open to anyone in the state of Kansas. Quit coaches are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for one on one sessions. The sessions can be completed online at or by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW
